Within the framework of the official visit of the Turkish delegation, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov had a meeting with Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yıldırım in a narrow, and then in an extended formats. Dzhumabekov stressed that over the past year, there have been dynamics in the Kyrgyz-Turkish relations. “Kyrgyzstan is interested in the development of Kyrgyz-Turkish relations, which have deep historical roots. The leaders of the two states also pay special attention to strengthening friendly and fraternal relations between our countries,” the Speaker said. Dzhumabekov also focused on inter-parliamentary cooperation: “Our parliaments play an important role in the development of interstate relations. Inter-parliamentary dialogue contributes to the solution of many issues in an open, constructive way. The active cooperation of parliamentarians within various international organizations also continues. The cooperation of parliamentarians in the framework of TurkPA is the only platform for the interaction of parliamentarians from Turkic-speaking countries,” the Speaker added. He also expressed gratitude to Turkey for supporting the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. The Speaker noted that Kyrgyzstan had presented its candidacy for a seat on the UNESCO Executive Board for the period from 2019-2023 and appealed for support. In addition, the meeting participants discussed the current state of trade and economic relations. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in this direction. The Speaker mentioned the need to increase trade turnover between the countries to $ 1 billion. In this regard, Dzhumabekov requested for consideration of the possibility of granting the Kyrgyz Republic in 2019 the status of GSP+ and inclusion in the Import-Customs regime. At the meeting, issue of transportation and export of beans to Turkey was also raised. At the meeting, issues of military cooperation were discussed. The possibility of facilitating the receipt of visas and permits for labor activities for Kyrgyz citizens working in Turkey at minimal prices was also considered. As for cooperation in the field of culture, Dzhumabekov noted that the holding of the IV World Nomad Games in 2020 was passed to the Turkish side. In turn, the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, speaking on cooperation between the countries, said: “Kyrgyzstan is the main political and economic partner of Turkey in Central Asia. Turkey will support the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for a seat on the Executive Board of UNESCO. In the near future, the Turkish Parliament will also consider the Draft Law on Ratification of the Social Security Treaty between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey,” Yıldırım told. Binali Yıldırım also noted that support will be provided in the matter of material and technical assistance to the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey proposed in 2019 to declare the city of Osh - the cultural capital of the Turkic-speaking countries. At the meeting, issue of close cooperation in the field of health also raised. In particular, in 2018, the Turkish side increased the quota for free medical care for Kyrgyz citizens, instead of 100 quotas, the Kyrgyz people were provided 150 quotas. At the end of the dialogue, the sides agreed that such meetings contribute to strengthening Kyrgyz-Turkish relations. The meeting was attended by deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Baatyrbekov, Mamytov, Matraimov, Choybekov, Orozova, Musabekov, Yusurov and Guipkulov.
