The Philippine Coast Guard said Thursday it forced a Chinese research vessel to leave an area it had occupied for four days off Batanes. The Jia Hai Ke 7 had been positioned 69 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, inside the Philippine exclusive economic zone. The vessel moved out after the Coast Guard's intervention.
