Meta has conceded that a technical error in its system wrongly flagged lawful activity on WhatsApp as a breach of the rules. Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission, known as MCMC, reported the admission from Cyberjaya. The commission had passed the company a first batch of user cases for review. More than half of that initial batch turned out to involve users who had done nothing wrong. The fault lay in the platform's enforcement machinery, which misread ordinary behaviour. Accounts sanctioned on the basis of those false flags are now in question. The finding covers only the first wave of cases submitted, and further batches could add to the count.
