Knockananna crowned Junior ‘B’ hurling champions following victory over Kilcoole
Full story
Knockananna have been crowned Junior 'B' hurling champions after getting the better of Kilcoole in their decider. The result hands the Wicklow club a trophy earned the hard way, against opponents who reached the same stage on merit. Finals at this grade are rarely polished spectacles; they tend to be settled on hunger and nerve, and Knockananna appeared to have more of both when it counted. For Kilcoole it is a painful way for a promising run to end, having come within one match of a county title. Knockananna's players and supporters will savour a win the kind of which village clubs measure in years rather than weeks. The cup now heads back to Knockananna, where the hurling season will finish on a high whatever else the year brought.
