The government service of Republika Srpska is spending close to 6,000 marks on toilet brushes and rubber guards for urinals. The amount works out at just over three thousand euros for bathroom fittings in official premises. A look at the available report shows no indication of how many brushes or guards were actually purchased. The report also leaves out the price of a single item, which makes the deal impossible to assess. Publication of procurement data exists so the public can check where state money goes. With neither the quantity nor the unit price disclosed, there is nothing to compare the outlay against. The purchase is small by government standards, but the missing figures raise a fair question about how such orders are documented.
