The City of Cape Town reports that suburbs in the Cape Flats are hotspots for illegal fireworks. There were 49 complaints about unauthorized discharges in the first three weeks of October. This is an increase from six complaints during the same timeframe in September. Officials warned that these activities pose risks of fire, injury, and noise ahead of Diwali and Guy Fawkes.
