A new criminal faction called “Los Águilas” has been linked to the Tren de Aragua organization. The group focuses on kidnapping activities and was recently dismantled by the PDI. Its members were drawn from former participants of two cells known as the Shelbys and the Mapache. PDI detectives state that the faction’s operatives received directives from leaders located abroad. The police operation that broke up the group involved coordinated investigative work. Authorities credited the PDI’s efforts with preventing further kidnappings.
