Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. Barrier-2018 command and staff exercise with live firing trainng was held at Ala-Too training ground. The Land Forces and the National Guard of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Health took part in the exercise, organized by the State Border Service (SBS). Before the start of the exercise, a show of equipment and weapons held by the Border Service was held. Then the participants worked through two scenarios of the exercise. Both scenarios are as close to real conditions as possible. During the first phase of Barrier-2018, the units took control of a border incident, which was initiated by residents of the border areas of the two states. The theme of the second phase of the exercise is “The Actions of the SBS of the Kyrgyz Republic in Chuy oblast to Eliminate Illegal Armed Groups”. In the course of the second phase, a tactical exercise with live firing training was also held, in which Boru special operations groups of the departments of the SBS of the Kyrgyz Republic in Chuy and Issyk-Kul oblasts took part. “The main task of the Barrier -2018 command and staff exercise is improvement of practical skills of the personnel of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic by oblasts in case of exacerbated situation at the state border. We conduct similar exercises at the level of regional administrations so that they can adequately and quickly respond at their own level to changes in the situation at the border and work in practice through the issues of interaction with security agencies, law enforcement and other concerned state bodies, ” Chairman of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic Ularbek Sharsheev told . The units accomplished all two phases of the exercise accurately, quickly and efficiently, and fulfilled the tasks, having received high praise from the leadership of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Barrier - 2018 ended with live fire exercise with collective and light weapons. The Barrier - 2018 has been held with the ongoing support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek for the fourth year in a row. The Acting Head of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, Ambassador Valeriu Kiveri told that joint efforts will further enhance cooperation not only between security agencies, but also between all government agencies, which ultimately will contribute to effective response to situations that threaten peace, safety and stability. Effectively addressing the challenges of today and transnational threats is a strategic priority for cooperation, as well as an important aspect of the work of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek. As a result of the service and combat activities of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republicб 10 border incidents were recorded within the first 9 months of 2018: 7 at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and 3 at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border. During this period, 452 meetings of border representatives, including negotiations to resolve and prevent incidents that occurred at the state border were held through the border representative office.
