Bishkek, Feb. 14, 2019. /Kabar/. The Electronic Library System for Veterinary Specialists began its work in Kyrgyzstan, the department of agricultural projects of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic reported. It is reported that it is possible to access its materials from any corner of the world via the Internet. The library itself is located at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology of Scriabin Kyrgyz National Agrarian University. “Such a book fund has been created for the first time in the republic thanks to the support of the p Livestock and Market Development Programme funded by IFAD and carried out by the department of agricultural projects under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration of the Kyrgyz Republic. The cost of computer equipment, server hardware and software purchased by the programme amounted to more than $ 26,000. Initially, the programme helped the University to establish cooperation with Lan Russian publishing house (St. Petersburg). An agreement was signed that within two years, users from Kyrgyzstan will have access to all veterinary publications: textbooks, articles, and scientific recommendations. At the same time, the Electronic Library System was created at the university itself. For this purpose, the web site of the veterinary faculty was developed – fvm.knau.kg. Since November last year, the faculty has connected to the autonomous high-speed Internet. After the University e-library fund is fully completed, the agreement with Lan will end. The creation of the electronic library system at the University has expanded the opportunities of Kyrgyz veterinarians to receive up-to-date professional information from both Russian and domestic authors and scientists who have received international recognition. At least 1000 people can be potential library readers, over 700 of them are students, graduate students and teachers of the faculty, others are practicing veterinarians and employees of relevant bodies (Ministry of Agriculture, State Veterinary Inspection, Veterinary Chamber, etc.). Access to the library’s books is open to every registered reader,” the message says. Read more
