Bishkek, Feb. 14, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Central Asia Bruno Balvanera. During the meeting, the priority areas for cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the field of water supply and irrigation, development of transport communications, as well as support for private entrepreneurship were discussed, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported. The head of government noted that the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018-2040 was approved, which defines the strategic guidelines for the country's development for the long term. The prime minister also briefed on the main results of the socio-economic development of the country for 2018. He noted that in order to maintain a favorable business environment and investment climate, the government introduced a two-year moratorium on inspections of business entities and created the Institute of Business Ombudsman. Abylgaziev thanked for the assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in creating the Institute of Business Ombudsman and the activities of the Business Development and Investment Council under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The head of government emphasized that the assistance provided by the EBRD has a positive effect on the country's socio-economic development. EBRD's Managing Director for Central Asia, Bruno Balvanera, expressed his willingness to provide further assistance to the development of the country's business ombudsman institution, as well as to support other Government initiatives in implementing reforms to improve the investment climate, strengthening municipal and infrastructure services in small cities, and supporting in the development of private enterprises and local financial institutions, and strengthening the financial sector. During the meeting, the sides also discussed the issues of further cooperation and involvement of the EBRD in the preparation and promotion of major investment projects in the Kyrgyz Republic. Since functioning in Kyrgyzstan, the EBRD has implemented 176 projects in various sectors of the economy. Read more
