Personal del Servicio de Encargo y Búsqueda de Vehículos (SEBV) de Carabineros logró la detención de dos personas en la comuna capitalina de Pudahuel en el marco del plan antiencerronas. La diligencia se llevó a cabo en la calle Oceanía, donde una patrulla identificó un vehículo circulando con sus placas patentes adulteradas a la altura de calle Los Mares, lo que motivó una fiscalización. Tras interceptar el automóvil, Carabineros confirmó que el vehículo mantenía un encargo vigente por robo. Sin embargo, la sorpresa mayor vino al consultar la identidad de sus ocupantes, una pareja compuesta por un hombre de 25 años y una mujer. El sujeto arrojó en el sistema una orden de detención vigente por el delito de homicidio, perpetrado en el mes de octubre del presente año, siendo un prófugo buscado desde esa fecha. La investigación se profundizó y, previa autorización de los propios imputados, se procedió al ingreso y registro del domicilio de la pareja. En el lugar, la policía halló un verdadero arsenal y una gran cantidad de evidencias de actividades criminales. Se incautaron cuatro armas de fuego, abundante munición y varios ladrillos de marihuana prensada, junto con una prensa que se presume era utilizada para la compactación de la droga destinada a la comercialización. La teniente Savka Herrera, del SEBV de Carabineros, entregó detalles de los elementos incautados, destacando la presencia de gran cantidad de dinero en efectivo y diversos objetos para cometer ilícitos. Entre estos elementos se encontraron vestimentas muy similares a las utilizadas por Carabineros, lo que sugiere una posible vinculación de la pareja con una banda dedicada al robo con intimidación, posiblemente perpetrando encerronas o robos de vehículos. Finalmente, la pareja fue detenida y será formalizada por diversos delitos, incluyendo la receptación del vehículo robado, posesión ilegal de armas y tráfico de drogas. Adicionalmente, el hombre deberá responder por la orden de aprehensión vigente por el delito de homicidio.

Singapore marathoner Soh Rui Yong’s hopes of contending for a medal at the 2025 SEA Games are now uncertain after an abnormal finding surfaced during his pre-Games medical screening. But he is unfazed and remains hopeful. In a Facebook post on Friday (Dec 5), Soh wrote: «The doctor says I’m getting old. Looking forward to proving my heart health at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon this weekend.» The medical screening was conducted at Changi General Hospital a day earlier. Soh was informed that he might not be cleared to compete as his electrocardiogram (ECG) results were «abnormal, with multiple premature ventricular complexes» and that he would “likely to need further cardiovascular evaluation before clearance”, reported The Straits Times. Soh told The Straits Times that he has not experienced any cardiovascular difficulties previously and hopes that the issue will be resolved in time for his race on Dec 16. In spite of the situation, Soh still intends to compete in the half marathon and marathon at this weekend's Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. 

Many parents of students with disabilities have concerns about the school-to-work transition for their children when they turn 18 and complete schooling at special education schools (Sped), said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Friday (Dec 5). He was speaking at the launch of Vista @ Enabling Village in Bukit Merah on Friday morning, where he also announced the launch of a new taskforce on assurance for families with persons with disabilities at the event. Vista, a four-storey block at the Enabling Village, provides a dedicated space for those with disabilities after they turn 18 and age out of the system. It will also host initiatives that strengthen support for caregivers.
