El Primer Tribunal de Juicio Oral en lo Penal de Santiago condenó a cadena perpetua a tres criminales que, en septiembre de 2023, secuestraron, asesinaron y descuartizaron a dos personas en la comuna de Pudahuel. En un fallo unánime, el tribunal sentenció a presidio perpetuo calificado a Benjamín Esteban Bordillo Catrimán; a presidio perpetuo simple a Gabriel Jesús Oyarzo Sanhueza y Francisco Alejandro Gálvez Jara; y a cinco años de internación en régimen cerrado, más cinco años de libertad asistida con internación parcial, a una joven de iniciales C.B.G.Z. que era menor de edad al momento de los hechos, y que fue sentenciada como coautora del delito de secuestro con homicidio. Según informó el Poder Judicial, completado el proceso, el tribunal dio por acreditado que en horas de la madrugada del 13 de septiembre de 2023, las víctimas Bernarda Ester Morales González y Luis Arturo Zúñiga Herrera fueron trasladadas hasta un inmueble ubicado en la calle Pretoria N°769, donde fueron retenidas contra su voluntad. En el fallo consta que Bordillo, Oyarzo y Gálvez «los golpearon repetidamente, para luego desmembrarlos (...) y decapitarlos, aumentando deliberada e inhumanamente el dolor a Bernarda y Luis en el proceso de darles muerte». Posteriormente, Oyarzo trasladó los restos óseos de las víctimas hasta un sitio eriazo ubicado en la intersección de las calles Claudio Arrau e Isla Portezuelo, en la misma comuna de Pudahuel, «a un costado de la Ruta 68, donde fueron enterrados» y hallados en noviembre de ese mismo año.  En aquel momento, una hija explicó que Morales y su pareja vivían en situación de calle desde agosto, tras ser obligados a abandonar su vivienda debido a que sujetos con quienes mantenían algún tipo de rencilla amenazaron con incendiarla.
